African swine fever continues to break out in Nghi Loc and Dien Chau
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 25, in Nghi Loc district, there was another outbreak of African swine fever. At the same time, in Dien Dong commune (Dien Chau), a new outbreak was also announced.
* On the morning of May 25, local authorities of Nghi Khanh commune (Nghi Loc)Coordinated with veterinary agencies to destroy 16 pigs infected with African swine fever in the area with a total weight of 300 kg.

Previously, on May 23, Mr. Vo Hoang Chung's family in Long Tan hamlet, Nghi Khanh commune (Nghi Loc) reported to the local authorities that a sick pig had died. Upon receiving the news, the veterinary agency took samples for testing, and the results on May 24 showed that Mr. Chung's pig tested positive for African swine fever.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. Chung’s family often takes leftover food from restaurants and hotels to feed the pigs during the process of raising pigs. This is one of the causes of the current spread of African swine fever.

Mr. Phung Ngoc Tuyen - Vice Chairman of Nghi Khanh Commune People's Committee said: "Immediately after the veterinary agency announced the African swine fever epidemic, we held an urgent meeting to deploy anti-epidemic plans. First, we set up 4 checkpoints around Long Tan hamlet and bought 1 ton of lime powder to sprinkle around the barn area to prevent the spread of the epidemic."
Previously, from May 21 to May 24, 3 more communes in Nghi Loc district were also recorded to have African swine fever. Including households: Pham Khac Chinh, hamlet 13, Nghi Dien commune; Nguyen Van Minh, hamlet 15, Nghi Thuan commune; Nguyen Van Vinh, hamlet 4, Nghi Cong Nam commune.
As of May 25, in Nghi Loc district, there were 8 communes affected by African swine fever. Including: Nghi My, Nghi Hung, Nghi Trung, Nghi Hoa, Nghi Cong Nam, Nghi Thuan, Nghi Dien, Nghi Khanh. This is the locality with the second highest rate of disease spread in the province, after Dien Chau district.

* In the afternoon, the Veterinary Agency of Region III tested positive for African swine fever in Dien Dong commune (Dien Chau).Previously, on the afternoon of May 23, the authorities reported to the veterinary agency that there were sick pigs in two households, Truong Dai Hai and Nguyen Thi Hanh, both in Hamlet 1. On May 24, the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station took samples of the sick pigs for testing.
District veterinary officers coordinated with Dien Dong commune authorities to deploy solutions to prevent and control the epidemic in line with the province. The commune has purchased 1 ton of lime powder and received 20 liters of disinfectant chemicals from the district. By the afternoon of May 25, the commune had completed the destruction of 4 pigs from 2 households and sent forces to stand guard at checkpoints.

Thus, as of May 25, Dien Chau district had 15 communes affected by African swine fever, including: Dien Van, Dien Kim, Dien Thai, Dien Quang, Dien Bich, Dien Xuan, Dien Doai, Dien Hong, Dien Hanh, Dien My, Dien Truong, Dien Yen, Dien Loc, Dien Nguyen and Dien Dong.
