Driving a car and crashing into two houses, received a 12-month suspended sentence

On the afternoon of April 26, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district held a public trial of the case of Tran Khai Tinh, born in 1992, residing in Hamlet 2, Nghia My commune, Thai Hoa town, for the crime of unintentionally causing serious damage to another person's property.

At about 10:20 a.m. on October 3, 2018, Tran Khai Tinh drove a truck with license plate 29C - 414.59 towing a trailer with license plate 29 R - 045.20 into the dining and resting area of Mr. Le Chau Chanh, in Binh Nghia hamlet, Nghia Binh district, Nghia Dan district to stop and park. Due to not paying attention, Tinh drove the car and collided with the wooden house with tiled roof of Mr. Tran Van Thang (Mr. Chanh's neighbor).
The consequence was that the entire wooden house collapsed and continued to fall on Mr. Le Chau Chanh's iron house with a corrugated iron roof, completely damaging the corrugated iron house. The total value of damage to the wooden house with a tiled roof and the iron house with a corrugated iron roof was 290,500 thousand VND.
At the trial, Tran Khai Tinh confessed to his actions. Applying Clause 1, Article 180 of the Penal Code, the Trial Panel decided to sentence Tran Khai Tinh to 12 months in prison, suspended, for the crime of “involuntarily causing serious damage to property.”./.
