According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, this year, the National Day holiday on September 2nd coincides with a weekly day off, so workers will be given compensatory days off, with a total of 3 consecutive days off.

Article 115 of the 2012 Labor Code states that employees will have 1 day off on National Day (September 2). During the off-time, employees will still receive full pay as if they were working.

In addition, if the prescribed holidays coincide with weekly holidays, employees will be compensated with the following day off. Therefore, this year, cadres, civil servants, public employees and employees in administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations; employees working at establishments with 2 days off/week (off every Saturday and Sunday): Employees will be off on September 4 to compensate for September 2 because it falls on Saturday, so the National Day holiday will be 3 consecutive days off, from Saturday, September 2 to Monday, September 4, 2017.

For employees working at units with 1 day off/week (weekly Sunday off): 2 consecutive days off, from Saturday 29 to Sunday 3/9/2017 (no compensatory day off on Monday 4/9).

For agencies and organizations that do not have a fixed 2-day holiday schedule every Saturday and Sunday, the unit should base on its specific program and plan to arrange a suitable holiday schedule.

Since 2017, the Prime Minister has agreed with the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to abolish the swapping of working days so that workers can have many consecutive days off during holidays and Tet. The swapping of working days during holidays and Tet has been implemented since 2010 and was temporarily suspended at the end of 2016./.
