In the long term, Mr. Son said, the commune has also submitted many requests to all levels for financial support to upgrade Rom dam, but so far the upgrade of Rom dam has not been implemented.

It is known that Rom dam in Giang Son Dong commune (Do Luong) has an area of ​​37,796m2, annually serving irrigation for over 30ha of 2-crop rice, 15ha of vegetables and serving the daily life of over 400 households. However, because the dam was built with earth nearly 40 years ago, the upstream slope has now collapsed, the dam body has cracked and leaked water. Not to mention that the dike surface of this dam has become a traffic route between My Hoa hamlet and Dong Xuan hamlet of Giang Son Dong commune, causing the dam body to weaken and subside.

In Do Luong, there are currently 112 large and small lakes and dams, of which 5 weak irrigation works are in need of repair and upgrading. The most seriously affected are the water intake works of Ba Phi dam (Hien Son), Cay Vong dam (Bac Son), Rom dam (Giang Son Dong), Nha Do dam (Bai Son), Khe Quyt dam (Hong Son).

In recent days, due to heavy rains, local authorities have been living in constant fear that weak lakes and dams in the area will break. The People's Committee of Do Luong district has also requested localities to always be on duty to check and be ready to mobilize forces to respond when a dam break occurs. However, according to Mr. Hien, in the long term, it is necessary to invest funds to upgrade and repair, both to ensure safety and to store water for production and daily life of the people.
