Nghe An province delegation visits high-tech farm in Australia
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 3, during the visit and working program in Melbourne city, Victoria state, Australia, the delegation of Nghe An province led by Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee visited the St. Anne's Winery grape growing and wine production farm.
The delegation included comrades: Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Viet Hung - Director of the Department of Home Affairs; Phung Thanh Vinh - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Hoang Sy Kien - Director of the Department of Construction; Hoang Quoc Viet - Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment; Nguyen Manh Loi - Director of the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion; Nguyen The Than - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and leaders of relevant departments and branches.
St Anne's Winery, a family-owned vineyard, is now operated organically, without the use of pesticides.

St Anne’s Farm is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and operating sustainably, using drip irrigation and soil probes to accurately measure the amount of water needed for each vine. St Anne’s mulches the vines with organic waste to reduce soil moisture loss and improve soil structure. St Anne’s also has an on-site water recycling plant, recycling 100% of the wastewater generated by the winery and bottling plant.

Lotus Farm is a company specializing in the production of clean vegetables, tubers and fruits in Melbourne (Australia). The company's farm covers an area of 10 hectares, including 3 hectares of greenhouses. The farm uses the most advanced technology from the Netherlands, specializing in the production of tomatoes and cucumbers. Lotus is a farm chosen by the state of Victoria as a model high-tech agricultural farm for replication and development.
Lotus Farm representative said that thanks to the application of modern technology, the farm's productivity is 6-7 times higher than other farms. Each year, the farm's revenue from vegetables and fruits in the greenhouse reaches 4 million AUD.


During the visit to Lotus farm, delegates in the working delegation learned about the technological process and farm operations, and introduced the potential and advantages of Nghe An in the agricultural sector.


Nghe An is located in the central region of North Central Vietnam, with a total natural land area of 1,648,162 hectares, of which agricultural land area is 303,919 hectares. In recent years, safe vegetable production has been considered a strength, a top priority in developing crop production and has received attention and focus from many localities in the province.
Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu and the delegation hope that in the coming time, many Australian high-tech agricultural enterprises will come to learn about and invest in Nghe An.
