On November 17, a leader of the People's Committee of Quy Hop district said that the locality has just imposed an administrative fine of VND35 million on Thanh Xuan Stone Mining and Processing Joint Stock Company for environmental violations. The company is located at Tho Son 1 Industrial Cluster, Tho Hop Commune, Quy Hop District.
Recently, people have reported that the opaque white wastewater often flows out of the company, spills onto the road, and pours into the fields, affecting the environment. According to the leader of Tho Hop Commune People's Committee, the commune's interdisciplinary inspection team has also inspected this situation many times and has also drawn up administrative fines many times. On October 31, after receiving the feedback, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district established an inspection team. The inspection results showed that the company had not properly or fully implemented one of the contents of the environmental license. Specifically, according to the environmental protection plan approved by the district People's Committee, the company's sedimentation tank system consisted of 3 compartments, but at the time of inspection, the company's sedimentation tank only consisted of 2 compartments. In addition, at the time of inspection, it was determined that the company was operating 4 sedimentation tanks, of which sedimentation tank No. 1 consisted of 2 compartments, sedimentation tank No. 2 was not separated, sedimentation tanks No. 3 and No. 4 were not separated, which was not in accordance with the approved environmental protection plan.
According to the company representative, because the industrial park's infrastructure does not have a connection system, every time it rains heavily, a large amount of water from higher areas flows down to the company's premises. There is a situation where water from the pond and rainwater overflows outside. At the time when people recently complained, it was because "workers were washing motorbikes, so the water overflowed onto the street and flowed towards the gate, combined with road dust, so the wastewater was milky white."
