The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just decided to impose an administrative fine of 330 million VND on Van Son Construction Joint Stock Company. This company is located in Quynh Van commune (Quynh Luu), with Mr. Le Van Son (61 years old) as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director. This enterprise is the owner of Van Son stone quarry, Quynh Van commune.

According to the minutes made by the inspection team of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district on June 9, 2023, this quarry has encroached and occupied more than 63,000m2Unused hilly land in rural areas. Including office, crushing station, and staging area (area 2,800m2)2); mineral exploitation (area 60,646.8m2) in the Tru Hai area, Quynh Van commune. For this act, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district has proposed the Provincial People's Committee to impose a fine of 80 million VND. At the same time, force the restoration of the original state of the land before the violation and force the return of the encroached land and rocks.

In addition, the inspection team also discovered that the company had exploited minerals beyond the permitted mining area. Specifically, the company exploited 1.48 hectares beyond the licensed area. For this act, the People's Committee of Nghe An province imposed a fine of 250 million VND, forced the environmental rehabilitation and restoration; and implemented solutions to bring the exploited areas beyond the permitted mining area to a safe state.

Here, the monitoring team requested Quynh Van commune to pay attention to strengthening inspection, examination and supervision of mineral exploitation activities; especially focusing on overcoming the situations of mineral exploitation and processing that affect people's lives such as noise, dust pollution, domestic water pollution and people's housing; Strengthening closer and more effective coordination with all levels and sectors in management as well as handling violations, overcoming possible incidents; Maintaining the reporting regime on the situation of mineral exploitation activities monthly and quarterly to the District People's Committee to handle situations and violations beyond the authority of the Commune People's Committee.

Mr. Le Van Son is one of the people who committed economic violations when implementing a number of bidding packages in the Project to support the socio-economic development of the O Du ethnic group not long ago. At the trial on November 19, 2021, Mr. Son was sentenced by the People's Court of Nghe An province to 18 months in prison, suspended, and a probationary period of 36 months for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties". For the same crime, Mr. Son's deputy director was also sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended.
