Nghe An businessman in Hanoi donated more than 33 billion VND to build houses for the poor.

On the morning of February 18, in Hanoi, the Liaison Committee of Nghe An Fellow Countrymen in Hanoi chaired and coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, and General Company 36 of the Ministry of National Defense to organize a meeting with Nghe An businessmen in Hanoi to mobilize investment in developing their hometown and support the construction of houses for the poor in the province.

NGHE AN PREPARES "5 READINESSES" TO WELCOME INVESTORS

Nghe An always identifies social security, poverty reduction, and temporary housing as important, regular, and long-term tasks. During the period from 2020 to 2022, the whole province mobilized resources to support the construction and repair of more than 4,500 houses for poor households, near-poor households, and households with housing difficulties (building more than 3,870 new houses, repairing more than 630 houses) with a total cost of more than 177 billion VND.

Although many results have been achieved in socio-economic development, the province has a large area and complex terrain with over 83% of it being mountainous and strongly divided; it is often affected by natural disasters, storms and floods, so the lives of a part of the people are still difficult.

Up to now, the whole province still has more than 55 thousand poor households, more than 53 thousand near-poor households; of which 15,300 households are facing housing difficulties (including 9,200 households in need of new construction and 6,100 households in need of housing repair), in dire need of the cooperation and help of the whole society.

In recent years, along with the issuance of specific mechanisms and policies to support the poor and people in difficult circumstances, creating sustainable livelihoods to help people escape poverty, on February 10, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee issued a Directive on strengthening the Party's leadership in mobilizing, supporting and building houses for the poor and people in difficult housing circumstances in the province, with a very high political determination to strive to basically complete the elimination of temporary housing and dilapidated housing in the province by the end of 2025.

Previously, on February 4, the province successfully organized the Launching Ceremony of the Program to mobilize support for building houses for the poor and people with difficult housing circumstances in Nghe An province in the period of 2023 - 2025. At the program, 116 units inside and outside the province committed to support an amount of over 512 billion VND, equivalent to 10,018 houses, with an average of 50 million VND/house.

The province has established a provincial Steering Committee, directed the establishment of district and commune-level Steering Committees and hamlet and village working groups, mobilized the active participation of the entire political system, created unity in directing implementation and promoted the combined strength of the people with the motto "Those who have property, those who contribute" in building houses for the poor and people in difficult circumstances.

Speaking at the program, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy earnestly called on the people of Nghe An province, businessmen in Hanoi, especially businessmen and enterprises who are Nghe An's children in Hanoi to support and help the poor have a solid and warm house to "settle down", have more motivation to escape poverty, build a better life; contribute effort and money to help the province complete the social security program and achieve the goal of building 9,200 new houses and repairing 6,100 houses by 2025.

Along with efforts in implementing social security, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, Nghe An province is determined to create a stronger breakthrough in socio-economic development, especially attracting investment, thereby creating jobs, increasing budget revenue and solving other problems in the province.

Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy affirmed that Nghe An is determined to remove obstacles to the development process, especially obstacles in attracting investment. “Nghe An is preparing 5 readinesses including: readiness to synchronize essential infrastructure and planning; readiness to prepare land; readiness to prepare human resources to meet investors' needs; readiness to innovate, reform, and change the investment and business environment; readiness to prepare conditions to best serve investors,” said comrade Thai Thanh Quy.

On that basis, analyzing and clarifying the content and solutions of the province to implement "5 readiness", especially the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050, infrastructure of economic zones, industrial parks; connecting traffic infrastructure such as seaports, airports, social infrastructure, the head of the Provincial Party Committee believes and expects investors in general, especially investors who are children of Nghe An in Hanoi, to pay attention, research and invest to contribute to their homeland.

"The province is committed to accompanying, sharing, supporting and assisting businesses, including those from Nghe An in Hanoi, to research and invest in the province," affirmed Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy.

UNITE NGHE AN PEOPLE IN HANOI TO JOIN HANDS TO BUILD THE HOMETOWN

Speaking at the program, recalling President Ho Chi Minh's earnest wish for his homeland to build Nghe An into one of the most prosperous provinces in the North, comrade Nguyen Sinh Hung - former member of the Politburo, former Chairman of the National Assembly acknowledged the development steps of the province, and highly appreciated the efforts and determination of the province to realize Uncle Ho's wish, especially the province's "5 readiness" to attract investment.

Former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung highly appreciated the spirit of readiness and determination to simultaneously achieve two goals: enriching the province, district, commune, and people; and being determined to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.

Sharing the burning desire for the development of his homeland, comrade Nguyen Sinh Hung hopes that Nghe An businessmen in Hanoi, who are all outstanding citizens of the country, will pay attention and accompany the province to effectively implement the two great resolutions mentioned above.

At the program, representing Nghe An businessmen attending the program, a number of businessmen spoke, expressing their deep feelings and determination to accompany in building and developing their homeland and implementing social security programs.

Updated to 11:10 a.m. on February 18, the program to mobilize support for building houses for the poor and people in difficult circumstances has received a donation of 33.3 billion VND from Nghe An businessmen in Hanoi, far exceeding the registered target of 10 billion VND.
