Prevenar 13 vaccine is researched and produced by the leading pharmaceutical and biological products group Pfizer (USA), used in more than 100 countries around the world, proven to be effective and safe in preventing disease for children and adults.
At the launching ceremony, Mr. Ngo Chi Dung - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company said: The new pneumococcal vaccine is considered a "treasure" to prevent many dangerous infectious diseases. The implementation of Prevenar 13 vaccination in Vietnam will help many children and adults who have never been vaccinated against dangerous diseases caused by pneumococcus to have the opportunity to be vaccinated with this vaccine, unlike before when only children under 5 years old were vaccinated.
Especially for people at risk of diseases such as pneumonia, meningitis, otitis media...; people with diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, immunodeficiency, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, blood pressure, the elderly in general... can be vaccinated, because this group is very susceptible and the ability to treat the disease is very difficult.

Previously, in Vietnam, there was only one type of pneumococcal vaccine, Synflorix, which was only used for children under 5 years old, so it could not meet the disease prevention needs of older children and the elderly, especially those with respiratory diseases, chronic lung diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure, etc.
Therefore, having an additional vaccine to prevent pneumococcal diseases such as Prevenar 13 is good news not only for a vaccination center when there is a new vaccine with good quality and high disease prevention efficiency but also good news for the community. The Prevenar 13 vaccine has been deployed since November 17 in the vaccination system for children and adults of VNVC nationwide.
Prevenar 13 vaccine can be given to children as early as 6 weeks old with a regimen of 3 basic injections and a booster injection at least 2 months after the 3rd injection, between 11-15 months of age. For children 7-11 months old, 2 basic injections will be given, 1 month apart, and a booster injection at least 2 months after the 2nd injection, when the child is over 1 year old. For children 12-23 months old, 2 injections will be given, at least 2 months apart. In particular, for children 24 months old and older, adults and the elderly only need to be given 1 single injection of Prevenar 13 for long-term protection.
From May 4, 2019, Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company also opened the 9th VNVC Vaccination Center inAddress 17B, Mai Hac De, Quan Bau Ward, Vinh City. Thereby, creating conditions for customers of Nghe An and the North Central provinces to experience high-class vaccination services, modern equipment and safe vaccine quality with stable prices and no price fluctuations.
