Raiding a cockfighting ring at noon, arresting 8 gamblers

Recently, Do Luong District Police have received information that there is a gambling ring in the form of cockfighting for money, consisting of many people in the district and neighboring areas such as Yen Thanh and Nghi Loc. To avoid detection by the authorities, the people assigned people to keep watch outside, and if there is any "movement", they immediately report it to the gamblers inside to disperse.

Identifying this as a very complicated gambling den, if not eradicated soon, it would greatly affect the security and order situation in the area, the leaders of Do Luong District Police directed and assigned the Criminal Investigation Police Team on Crime - Economy - Drugs (HS-KT-MT) to concentrate forces to fight and eradicate.

After a period of monitoring and ambush, on July 12, 2020, detectives identified nearly a dozen suspects organizing gambling at the house of Pham Ba Nam (born in 1974), residing in Hamlet 6, Tru Son Commune, Do Luong, so they decided to solve the case.

At around 11:15 a.m. the same day, using sharp professional measures, the police force controlled and neutralized the lookouts, and simultaneously raided the garden of Pham Ba Nam's house, catching 8 people red-handed gambling in the form of cockfighting.

The eight subjects include: Pham Ba Nam (homeowner), Nguyen Quang Huy (born in 1963), residing in Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc; Nguyen Van Liem (born in 1960) and Nguyen Van Doan (born in 1963), both residing in Nghi Van commune, Nghi Loc; Nguyen Minh Tri (born in 1973), residing in Trung Thanh commune, Yen Thanh; Nguyen Trong Lai (born in 1984), residing in Minh Son, Do Luong; Tran Van Hung (born in 1957), residing in Tru Son commune, Do Luong and Thai Dinh Toan (born in 1984), residing in Thuong Son commune, Do Luong.

At the scene, the police seized 14 fighting cocks, 6 metal cages, 1 scale (used to weigh cocks before the match), 2 wall clocks (to check the time of each cockfight), 15 million VND and some related evidence.

After classifying the subjects for handling according to the provisions of law, the Investigation Police Agency of Do Luong District Police issued a decision to prosecute two subjects Pham Ba Nam and Nguyen Quang Huy for gambling.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Do Luong District Police is continuing to investigate and clarify.
