In a bumper crop of hot chili peppers, Nghe An farmers earn hundreds of millions
(Baonghean.vn) - At this time, the hot chili peppers in An Hoa commune, Quynh Luu district are at the end of the harvest season. Farmers are excited because of a crop that achieved both output and value.
This season, An Hoa commune planted chili peppers on an area of 10 hectares. After 3 months of planting and caring for the plants, they were ready for harvest.

This year, chili peppers have flowered and borne fruit in abundance, yielding from 700 kg to 1 ton/sao. Farmers have sold out all their products as soon as they harvested. At the beginning of the season, chili peppers cost 35,000 VND/kg, but now the price is 20,000 - 25,000 VND/kg, 10,000 VND/kg higher than the same period last year. With a total output of 150 tons for the season, farmers in An Hoa commune have hundreds of millions of VND in revenue from chili peppers.
According to farmers, to get the best results from chili peppers, fields must be regularly rotated and seedlings should not be continuously cultivated in one area to limit harmful pests and diseases; new soil will help plants grow and develop quickly, giving higher yields.
Mr. Hoang Van Binh - Director of Toan Thang Agricultural Service Cooperative, An Hoa commune said:Chili peppers are planted from September to December of the lunar calendar, and the harvest period lasts about 5 months. Every year, the cooperative encourages people to rotate their planting, planting in one field this year and in another field next year.
