In the previous days, Vinh City in particular and Nghe An province in general had to endure a record heat wave, disrupting people's lives, with temperatures always at 38-41 degrees Celsius.
According to the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the rain is due to the cold continental high pressure in the North being strengthened and compressed, pushing the low pressure trough with an axis at about 25-27 degrees North latitude to the South.
Due to the impact of the compressed low pressure trough, from May 20 to May 21, in the Northern and North Central provinces, there will be widespread thunderstorms, with moderate rainfall, and heavy to very heavy rain in some places (common rainfall 30-60mm/24 hours, in some places over 80mm/24 hours).
On social networks, many people also expressed joy at the rain after many days of hot sun.

In addition, it also reduced the risk of pine forest fires; balanced the temperature, and increased resistance for livestock.
The heavy rain over a large area in Nghia Dan district and Thai Hoa town on the morning of May 21 was considered by local people as a "golden" rain, soothing the harsh, hot sun at the peak of the dry season.
According to local people, this is the heaviest rain since Tet holiday in Nghia Dan district and Thai Hoa town.
Previously, on the afternoon of May 20, hail and thunderstorms in Ky Son and Que Phong districts caused many trees to break and the roofs of many houses to be blown off.
