Director of Nghe An Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs warns about the situation of illegal labor in Japan

According to data from 2017 - 2019, Nghe An workers going to Japan under the IM JAPAN Program were 480 people, of which 24 workers escaped, accounting for 5%. In the first 4 months of 2019 alone, there were 9 cases of escape.

"If there is no solution, the number of workers fleeing from Japan will gradually increase and greatly affect the province's reputation for labor export," Mr. Doan Hong Vu warned.

In addition, Nghe An currently has 1,768 illegal workers in Korea. 16 districts, cities and towns have workers who have escaped; of which 9 districts, cities and towns have temporarily stopped sending workers to Korea.

In these 9 localities, the lowest district has 111 people, the highest district has 304 people working illegally in Korea. To be removed from the list of temporarily suspended labor exports, the number of runaway workers in a district must be less than 60 people.

However, according to the assessment of the leaders of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, this is a rather difficult problem. Because the most important thing is still the workers' families, but although they have gone to their homes to grasp, propagate and mobilize, many families of runaway workers refuse to cooperate with the authorities.

The Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs suggested that it is necessary to continue to enhance the responsibility of commune and district levels in propaganda work.

Regarding this content, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Thanh Quy suggested that, from surveying and grasping the overall situation, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs should research to advise the Provincial People's Committee on solutions to direct all levels and sectors to strengthen propaganda and labor management.

The industry even needs to consult on solutions to grasp the situation of overseas workers in order to proactively manage and gradually reduce runaway workers, such as: through units at the ministerial level, through gathering information from groups of overseas workers...; thereby not affecting the rights of workers who want to go abroad to work, especially to Japan and Korea.
