High-tech driving test cheating is about to run out of room

Many candidates use high-tech devices to cheat on the theoretical part of the driving test. Departments of transportation offer solutions to deal with this negative phenomenon.

The Ministry of Transport is seeking opinions on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circulars related to the fields of road transport, road transport support services, vehicles and drivers.

Commenting on anti-cheating activities in driving tests, the Department of Transport of Quang Nam and Binh Duong said that currently many candidates use high-tech devices to cheat, which is very difficult to detect. Therefore, the units recommended that the drafting committee of the circular should have regulations allowing the installation of signal jamming devices in the theory test room to prevent the use of high-tech devices to cheat in the theory test.

In addition, the units also proposed to supplement administrative sanctions. Accordingly, the Gia Lai Department of Transport proposed to supplement regulations on handling cases where driving training facilities do not submit or submit reports late.

According to the Gia Lai Department of Transport, to help manage drivers' licenses after the driving test, it is recommended that the Ministry of Transport coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to build a database to share information on drivers who frequently violate traffic safety order to have a form of handling; the driver's license may be revoked for a limited period or permanently.

Khanh Hoa Department of Transport proposed sanctions against enterprises providing DAT equipment, Driving practice cabins, inaccurate operation, data transmission, duplicate data updates and equipment errors; Interfering with equipment software to edit and distort subject results.

Receiving comments from the departments, the Circular Drafting Committee said that currently, the Vietnam Road Administration is developing a Project to Enhance the Application of Information Technology and Digital Transformation in the Road Sector for the 2023-2025 period, with a vision to 2030.

Accordingly, in the field of driver training and testing, technology applications will be added to minimize cheating in testing.

The drafting committee also received information on administrative sanctions.

Previously, in order to promptly detect and handle fraudsters during the driving license examination process; the Vietnam Road Administration introduced a series of solutions to prevent fraud and detect and handle violations in this work.

Specifically, the Vietnam Road Administration requires the Departments of Transport to strengthen measures to inspect the recruitment and training process of students at driving license training facilities to promptly detect and handle violations.

At the same time, check the server and computers of the theoretical examination room, check the practical examination vehicle in the picture before the students get on the examination vehicle to promptly detect and handle cases where the computer connection does not meet the regulations, or the examination vehicle has transceivers to cheat during the examination; direct the examination councils and examination teams to take measures to prevent students from using high-tech devices to cheat during the examination.
