(Baonghean.vn) - At this time, teachers and residents of the resettlement area of Ngoc Lam commune (Thanh Chuong) are urgently implementing enrollment work, preparing facilities... for the upcoming new school year.

Teachers come to your home to recruit students

To prepare for the new school year 2023 - 2024, at this time, teachers of Huong Tien Kindergarten, Ngoc Lam commune are urgently implementing enrollment work. The school has posted notices in public places, coordinated with the Management Board to read bulletins on loudspeakers, teachers regularly post and update information on social networks.

Unlike the central area, parents in the resettlement area of Ngoc Lam commune come to register sporadically, only a few people occasionally.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue - Principal of the school said: "In Ngoc Lam, during the day, most parents go to work in the fields and do not return until noon and evening. Yesterday, some parents came to register at nearly 12 noon and 6 pm, they had just come home from work and stopped by the school to register their children. There are cases where the fields are far away and there is no phone signal, so teachers cannot contact the parents. There are also cases where parents work far away, while the children stay at home with their elderly grandparents, so they cannot get information about enrollment."

In cases where parents cannot be contacted, teachers from Huong Tien Kindergarten visit their homes to mobilize and find information.

Following the group of teachers from the main school led by Ms. Duong Thi Thuy Song - Vice Principal, we visited some families with preschool children in Ma village.

The first stop was the family of Mr. Luong Van Nhan. He and his wife have a son, Luong Chung Van, who is old enough to go to kindergarten this year. Both husband and wife were away, and a neighbor said that Mr. Nhan and his wife were working on a distant hill collecting acacia. Little Luong Chung Van - Mr. Nhan's son was playing with his older siblings, when he saw the teachers coming, he ran around to the back of the house to hide.

After a while, Mr. Nhan and his wife returned, drenched in sweat. Mr. Nhan said: “Please understand, teachers. A few days ago, I heard the announcement on the loudspeaker, but I was busy making glue, so I couldn’t go to school to register my child. I was planning to take the afternoon off and go to school to do the paperwork, but the teachers came. It’s because of the difficult life that I’m late like this.”

After completing the application form for Luong Chung Van, the teachers of Huong Tien Kindergarten went to Luong Van Thao's house. Both Thao and his wife work far away, leaving their young son, Luong Minh Triet, with his grandmother to take care of and raise. According to Triet's grandmother, yesterday Thao called and asked her to bring Triet's birth certificate to the kindergarten to complete the admission procedures for his son. However, because of her poor eyesight, she only found the birth certificate this morning, and she planned to go to the school in the early afternoon to register for his admission. At this time, the sun was almost at its zenith, and the teachers returned to the school to summarize the number of admissions for the session.

Ms. Duong Thi Thuy Song shared: “Unlike areas with favorable conditions, in Ngoc Lam commune, there are many cases where teachers have to go to parents’ homes to complete enrollment procedures, sometimes even having to visit 2-3 times to meet with parents. This has more or less affected teachers’ time and work during the preparation for the new school year.”

Merge schools

According to Ms. Lo Thi Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngoc Lam commune, the lives of people in the commune still have many difficulties, their income mainly depends on agriculture and working for hire, so they do not have the conditions to pay much attention to their children's education.

But in return, the teachers here are truly dedicated to the cause of educating people, devoting all their love and responsibility to improving the quality of education. In addition to recruiting students, the preschool teachers also took the time to rearrange toys and coordinate with officers and soldiers of Ngoc Lam Border Post to repaint classrooms to welcome the children back to school in the coming days.

Schools are degraded, local budgets are limited, and people's lives are still difficult, so it is impossible to implement socialized education. Teachers become a bridge with philanthropists to call for support.

Recently, through the connection of teachers, Huong Tien Primary School received more than 800 million VND from a charity organization in Ho Chi Minh City to repair and upgrade the Tan Ngoc village school. All 11 degraded classrooms were painted, repaired, re-roofed and re-floored. In addition, desks, chairs, boards, textbooks and notebooks were also provided for students, preparing them for the new school year.

Mr. Phan Thanh Nam - Principal of Huong Tien Primary School shared: "Preparing for the new school year, the most worrying issue is the facilities at Tan Ngoc school, which has been resolved thanks to the support of volunteer organizations. Currently, we are implementing a plan to merge 5 schools into 2 to improve the quality of teaching and learning."

Accordingly, from the 2023-2024 school year, Tan Ngoc, Tan Sang and Tan Hop schools will be merged into Tan Ngoc school, because it has a central location and the facilities have just been repaired and upgraded.

After the merger, Huong Tien Primary School only has 2 campuses left: the main campus in Ma village and Tan Ngoc village campus with a total of 25 classes and 345 students.

In the coming days, the commune-level departments and agencies will coordinate with the school to mobilize parents and people of Tan Sang and Tan Hop villages to support the policy of merging primary schools. Initial surveys show that most parents support it because their children will be able to study at a more spacious and complete school.

Despite many difficulties, the Party Committee, the government and teachers always pay attention to and care for education. The new school year is approaching, schools in the area are urgently preparing, from enrollment, strengthening facilities to merging schools, all aiming for a successful school year.
