Robber snatched gold chain and ran away, got stuck in sewer
Snatching a gold necklace and surrounded by police, Thai rushed into a house, escaped upstairs, then jumped down to the street but fell into a sewer.
On December 17, District 6 Police (HCMC) detained Nguyen Hien Thai (28 years old) for the act ofRobbery.
Before that, on the afternoon of December 16, Thai rode his motorbike through many streets looking for people who were not paying attention to snatch their property. At the intersection of Pham Van Chi and Road 9 (District 6), he spotted a man wearing a gold necklace and immediately followed him.
When they reached a secluded area, Thai suddenly approached and snatched the necklace, causing the man to fall. The victim shouted and people chased after him. The robber ran to Lo Gom Street (Ward 8), fell off his motorbike, but jumped up and ran into a house to hide. Police surrounded the house immediately after.

Thai sneaked behind the house, jumped from the first floor onto the street but hit a manhole and got stuck underneath. The manhole was deep and dark, and the robber was injured, so dozens of police and rescue workers were mobilized.
It took the soldiers more than 15 minutes to get Thai out and take him to the emergency room. The victim's necklace was recovered and returned to him.
Thai had a broken leg and many scratches. He was a drug addict and had two previous convictions.
