Attending the opening ceremony were members of the Provincial Party Committee: Vo Van Dung - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; representatives of Vinh city leaders; along with researchers, collectors, and photographers.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi My Hanh emphasized: Vinh City is a land with a special strategic location, associated with many important historical marks throughout the history of building and developing the country in general and Nghe An province in particular.

This land has witnessed and marked important events: in 1788, Emperor Quang Trung chose Yen Truong land, Chau Loc district, now Trung Do ward, Vinh city as "a place with bright weather" to build Phuong Hoang Trung Do citadel; Vinh was also the starting point of the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement in the boiling drumbeat and the high spirit of the army going to battle: "There Ben Thuy stood up first/ There Thanh Chuong followed behind"; a Vinh city unanimously ready to burn the land to resist the French colonialists in 1947; Vinh was brave and resilient in the first victory on August 5, 1964 against the destructive war of American imperialism...

Through the thematic exhibition "Vinh City - past and present" with more than 200 valuable documents, materials, images, and artifacts, including many precious collections owned by Nghe An Museum and collectors who love Vinh city, the Organizing Committee hopes to recreate part of the ups and downs of the city's history so that visitors can find the image of Vinh city with the old people and the old town; can see Vinh devastated in the war, resilient in the fight, and today, Vinh has revived and developed strongly, is a type 1 urban area of Nghe An province, with increasingly expanding space, the city is bustling and changing every day to become the economic and cultural center of the North Central region.
The exhibition "Vinh City - past and present" has 2 themes:
- Topic 1 - "Glory in memory"Introducing images of the streets and roads of the old Vinh city such as: Khach street (Cao Thang street), Hang Gao (Le Huan street), Toa Su street...; historical and cultural relics such as: Diec pagoda, Vo Mieu temple, Van Mieu temple, Vinh ancient citadel; images of Vinh city during the resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism.
-Theme 2 - "Glory to the city of dawn"Introduce the process of rebuilding the city after the war until now, aiming to become a civilized and modern city, the center of the North Central region in the fields of finance, trade, tourism, science - technology, information technology, high-tech industry, health, culture, sports, education - training.
