Two students tragically drowned in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Two tragic drowning incidents occurred on the same day, in the same area of Dong Hop commune (Quy Hop), causing the death of two students.
At around 2:00 p.m. on March 20, Ngo Kim Quang (born 2004), a 9th grade student at Dong Hop Secondary School, and 6 of his friends were on a day off from school so they decided to go to Hieu River to swim. While swimming, 3 of them fell into a deep sand pit. The students who were with them called people to rescue 2 of them. Quang was not found until more than an hour later and had died.

On the same afternoon, Ho Phu Nguyen (born 2007), a student of Dong Hop Secondary School, and 9 friends from the school went fishing at Dong Xuong Dam in Dong Hop Commune. At around 4 p.m., some friends left, but Nguyen stayed behind and unfortunately slipped into the dam. When Nguyen did not return home in the evening, his family coordinated with the people and Dong Hop authorities to send forces to the dam to search for him. It was not until 11 p.m. that Nguyen's body was found.
After receiving the information, on the morning of March 21, leaders of Quy Hop district and Dong Hop commune came to burn incense and give each family 5.4 million VND in funeral support money, and the Quy Hop district Red Cross Society gave 1 million VND to the two families to take care of the children's funeral.
