Seafood of the 'rich' is cheaper than ever, sold everywhere
Lobster, salmon, snails, etc. are considered “rich people’s” seafood because of their high prices. However, recently, these items have become cheaper than ever, flooding sidewalks and markets because restaurants and eateries are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Earlier this year, when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in our country, many seafood products saw their prices plummet due to the inability to export to the Chinese market. However, prices recovered shortly after as the market of 1.4 billion people gradually opened up.

However, the joy did not last long, the Covid-19 epidemic became complicated, the whole society was in quarantine. Restaurants and eateries had to temporarily close, causing many high-end seafood products to fall into a slump, and prices to plummet.
Therefore, instead of only selling in supermarkets, food stores, restaurants,... nowlobster, salmon, and snails are flooding the market at unprecedentedly low prices. They are even sold on the sidewalk.

At the meeting of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in Hanoi in early April, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan said that due to poor exports, restaurants and hotels were closed, so the price of most seafood products had decreased by 30-50%. She hoped that the people of the capital would help businesses consume products such as Sa Pa salmon, clams, oysters and other seafood from the West.
