Greedy for 1 million dong in profit, two cousins received the same sentence.
(Baonghean.vn) - Just because he was greedy for 1 million VND in profit, Lau Ba Tein invited his cousin to buy drugs from a Lao man to resell for profit.
On October 18, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial to try two defendants Lau Ba Tinh (born in 1989, residing in Muong Long commune, Ky Son district) and Lau Ba Chay (born in 1993, residing in the same commune) for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
According to the indictment, on May 24, 2019, when Lau Ba Teinh was at home, a Thai man (whom he did not know) called to ask to buy drugs. This man said he would buy 2 packages of pink meth and 1 block of heroin for 11 million VND, and Teinh agreed.

Then, Tinh called a Mong (Lao) man to get drugs to sell. When Tinh arrived at Pha Xac village, Huoi Tu commune, Ky Son district, the Lao man gave him 2 packages of synthetic drugs and 1 block of heroin and told him the price was 10 million VND, and he would pay when he sold it.
After buying the drugs, Tinh called Lau Ba Chay (Tienh's cousin) and said: "Do you have a car? Come pick me up at Muong Long intersection. I need your help for something." Tinh agreed.
A while later, Chay came to ask "what's the matter" and Tinh replied "take the drugs to sell with me, we'll split the profit" and gave the drugs to Chay to hold. Tinh took Chay's motorbike to go to Xop Tu village, My Ly commune, Ky Son district to sell drugs to customers but was discovered and caught red-handed by Ky Son district police.
Confiscated evidence included 2 packages of pink meth weighing 39.75 grams, 1 package of heroin weighing 7.1 grams and 1 motorbike.
At the trial, both defendants Lau Ba Tinh and Lau Ba Chay confessed to all the crimes as charged in the indictment. “The defendant knows what he did was wrong. I hope the court will consider allowing him to return to his family soon and raise his children with his wife,” said defendant Lau Ba Tinh.
The panel of judges determined that the defendants' actions were particularly serious. The defendants were aware that drug trafficking was a violation of the law but still committed the crime.
The People's Court sentenced defendant Lau Ba Tinh to 15 years in prison and defendant Lau Ba Chay to 11 years in prison.
