Dozens of gamblers participate in 'cockfighting' in Yen Thanh

On February 18, speaking to reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Ngoc - Deputy Head of Yen Thanh District Police said that the unit is temporarily detaining a group of subjects "gamechicken"take money to continue investigating and clarifying gambling behavior.

Accordingly, on the morning of the 4th day of the Lunar New Year (February 15), through professional work, Yen Thanh District Police discovered at the abandoned cow farm of Tran Huu Nghia (born in 1983), residing in Vinh Son hamlet, Vinh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, a group of people gathered to gamble in the form of "cockfighting" for money.

After reporting the incident, the leaders of the Provincial Police and Yen Thanh District Police mobilized maximum forces, divided into many working groups to tighten the siege and arrest the group of subjects. At about 11:45 a.m. on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year (February 15, 2021), all working groups of the District Police simultaneously approached and caught 33 subjects red-handed while they were engrossed in gambling on cockfighting for money.

Evidence seized at the scene included: 8 fighting cocks, 1 watch, 3 plastic basins, 2 plastic buckets, 8 cars, 11 motorbikes, 35 mobile phones, 3 betting slips and nearly 170 million VND in cash...

Of the 33 arrested gamblers, 13 resided in Yen Thanh district; 7 in Do Luong district; 8 in Quang Binh province. The remaining resided in Dien Chau, Vinh city; Ha Tinh.

Currently, Yen Thanh District Police have detained 13 suspects to continue investigating and expanding the case.
