Many localities in Nghe An have adjusted the epidemic level, leaving only 46 communes in the red zone.

According to the epidemic level assessment announced by the Nghe An Department of Health on February 26, there are only 46 communes, wards and towns in the red zone (level 4, very high risk level) in the province. This number is down more than 120 communes compared to a week ago, when more than 1/3 of the total 460 communes and wards in Nghe An were red zones.

Meanwhile, the number of communes in the orange zone (level 3) has increased significantly, with 288 communes. In addition, there are 70 communes in the yellow zone and only 56 communes are in the new normal state (green zone).

While a few days ago, most of the communes in Quynh Luu were in the red zone, now this district has no communes left. Out of 33 communes and towns, 32 are in the orange zone, the remaining commune is Quynh Ngoc, which has been downgraded to the green zone. Meanwhile, the epidemic situation in this district in recent days has been very complicated, the number of infections per day has continuously set records and has not shown any signs of decreasing. Specifically, on February 21, the whole district recorded a record of 1,400 F0, in the following days, the number of new FO per day was always above or below 1,000. On February 25, Quynh Luu district also recorded nearly 1,100 new cases.

Similarly, Nam Dan district, just a few days ago, only Xuan Lam commune was in the orange zone, the remaining 18 communes and towns were in the red zone. However, today, this district no longer has any communes in the red zone. Instead, there are 14 communes in the orange zone and 5 communes moved down to the yellow zone.

In Vinh City, only 3 wards, Trung Do, Cua Nam and Le Mao, are still in the red zone, while the remaining 22 wards and communes are in the orange zone. Nghi Loc District also no longer has a red zone, instead, there are 24 communes in the orange zone, 3 communes in the yellow zone and 2 communes in the green zone.

According to this epidemic level assessment, Anh Son district is the locality with the most red zones with 19/21 communes; Do Luong district has 10/33 communes; Ky Son and Yen Thanh districts each have 5 communes in red zones...

Since the Lunar New Year, the number of Covid-19 infections in Nghe An has been continuously increasing, with thousands of cases per day. Up to now, the epidemic situation is still very complicated when on February 25, the whole province recorded a record of nearly 4,000 F0. However, experts say that the number of F0 in the community is still very large but has not been tested or reported to health authorities.

According to an official of the Nghe An Department of Health, this assessment is conducted by the district-level localities and then updated to the Department of Health. "The sharp decrease in the number of red zones in the province is not necessarily due to the fact that the epidemic situation is no longer complicated, but because the way to assess the epidemic level has been adjusted, and the data in the criteria has been reviewed," he said, adding that currently, the assessment of the epidemic level is based on 3 criteria, which are the rate of new cases in the area/population/time; vaccine coverage and ensuring the capacity to admit and treat medical examination and treatment facilities at all levels.
