"Due to market fluctuations, the price of green onions has dropped dramatically since the beginning of the year, at one point the selling price was only 1,500 VND/kg; by mid-June, the price had increased to 6,000 VND, at which point farmers started to make a profit. A week ago, traders bought at 8,000 VND/kg, and farmers began to earn high incomes from summer green onions," Mr. Luc shared.

Quynh Luong commune currently has 215 hectares specializing in vegetable production, of which 80% specializes in growing green onions. If the weather is favorable and well cared for, green onion productivity reaches about 1.3 - 1.5 tons/sao; average income reaches 270 million VND/ha/year, 1.5 - 2 times higher than other vegetables.
