In recent years, people in Yen Thanh district have increasingly invested in building net houses and greenhouses to produce clean vegetables, tubers and fruits to meet consumer demand. These models have contributed to creating conditions for the locality to build advanced new-style rural communes.

Mr. Le Xuan Hai - owner of a greenhouse in hamlet 6, Xuan Thanh commune said that in early 2021, with partial financial support from the State, his family invested in building a greenhouse system with an area of ​​3,000 m²; at the same time, installing an irrigation system using Israeli technology, and growing substrates for growing clean vegetables, tubers, and fruits, with a total capital of billions of dong. With the experience and knowledge gained, each season has its own products, from watermelon, cantaloupe, melon... to chrysanthemums, lilies... so the greenhouse area has products to sell to the market all year round.

At this time, the entire greenhouse area is planted with melons, of which cantaloupe is being harvested. According to Mr. Hai, the cantaloupe growing area consists of 3 greenhouses, each with an area of ​​300 m², by planting in alternating seasons, so every month there are 2-3 harvests. This year, the melon crop is good, with prices ranging from 45,000 - 50,000 VND/kg, so there is a profit. In addition, Mr. Hai and his wife are also taking care of some areas of melons and watermelons to sell in the fall.

"All plants in the greenhouse are grown in substrate and watered using Israeli technology, saving investment costs, time and effort; the products are guaranteed to be clean, beautiful, and easy to consume," said Mr. Le Xuan Hai.

Not only Xuan Thanh commune, but also other communes such as Tang Thanh, Son Thanh, Vinh Thanh, Bao Thanh... each commune has 1-2 net houses and greenhouses to produce vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds. According to research, during this time, net house owners in Yen Thanh district mainly grow spring-summer and summer-autumn melons, which are popular in the market and bring high economic efficiency.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Huong - Director of Yen Thanh District Agricultural Service Center said: Localities in the district are on the way to building advanced rural areas and model rural areas, so many models of agricultural economic development have appeared, in which, the clear effectiveness is the model of net houses and greenhouses. Up to now, Yen Thanh has 22 net houses and greenhouses with a total area of ​​over 30,000 m². Each greenhouse and net house is supported by the State with 30% of the construction cost.

Vegetables, tubers, and fruits in greenhouses and net houses are completely produced using Israeli drip irrigation technology, grown in substrates, so the quality is good and food safety is guaranteed. Therefore, the products are well consumed in the market, in which, a part of the products are supported by Yen Thanh Agricultural Service Center through the district's OCOP booth.

"With the trend of consumers increasingly looking for clean and safe vegetables, tubers and fruits, products produced in greenhouses and net houses always meet customer needs. Therefore, in the context of localities building advanced new rural communes and model new rural areas, the production model in net houses and greenhouses is one of the most effective solutions," said Mr. Nguyen Trong Huong./.
