Flowers have withered before they can be sold, many gardeners in Uncle Ho's hometown are worried about losing their crops.
(Baonghean.vn) - Although it is only December 25, flower gardens in Xuan Hoa commune (Nam Dan) are already in full bloom. Many flower gardens show signs of withering before they can be sold on the occasion of Lunar New Year, causing garden owners to worry about losing revenue.
"The gladiolus are all in full bloom, and now no one is buying them. Gladiolus fades faster than other flowers, so more than half of them are now damaged. Growing flowers this year is so boring," sighed Nguyen Thi Nguyet, a flower grower in Hamlet 1, Xuan Hoa Commune.

This year, Ms. Nguyet's family planted more than 10,000 chrysanthemums and gladiolus. Despite many years of experience growing these flowers, they still cannot "slow down" the growth of these flowers due to the warm weather near Tet. "This year the weather is warmer than other years, so my family tried to balance the time so that the flowers bloom on Tet, but they still bloomed early."
Sharing the same fate as Ms. Nguyet's family, 3,000 chrysanthemum plants of Ms. Hoang Thi Sau in Hamlet 2, Xuan Hoa Commune are also at risk of losing value. "Never before have the flowers bloomed as early as this year. Currently, the flowers are big and beautiful, with many buds, but they can only be sold for 2,500 VND/flower. On top of that, this year there are many pests and diseases, so we have to spray pesticides and pump more water. After deducting production costs, the profit is not enough" - Ms. Sau said.

According to Mrs. Sau, thanks to the chrysanthemums blooming for a long time, even though they bloomed 3 weeks ago, she still managed to sell 500 plants on the occasion of the Kitchen Gods' worship. As for the 2,500 plants sold during Tet, she accepted a lower price.
Discussing this issue, Mr. Ho Manh Hung - Chairman of Xuan Hoa Commune People's Committee said: "The commune currently has 4.5 hectares of flower growing area. Up to this point, due to the warm and sunny weather, 1/3 of the area has bloomed 2 weeks earlier than previous years, causing many gardeners to worry about crop losses."
