URGENT: Nghe An asks people to stay off the streets from 11am today, August 25 to cope with storm No. 5

On the morning of August 25, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh signed and issued an urgent dispatch on temporary road closures to prevent and combat storm No. 5. Accordingly, the province requested people without duties not to go out from 11:00 a.m. on August 25 to ensure absolute safety for life and health.

The dispatch clearly stated that, in order to strengthen urgent measures to respond to storm No. 5, the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee requested the Director of the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the People's Committees of localities to urgently identify key routes directly affected by the storm.

Authorities set up checkpoints and temporarily closed the road to all vehicles, except for priority vehicles, prevention, rescue, and disaster response forces on duty.

The specific time for implementing temporary road closures is as follows:

  • Starting from 11:00 on August 25, 2025.
  • The ban will last until the storm passes through the area or until further notice.

For routes at high risk of landslides and flooding, especially in mountainous areas, the Provincial People's Committee requires localities to organize warnings and send forces on duty to prohibit people and vehicles from passing, ensuring safety for the people.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Provincial Police to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to implement a temporary road closure plan, ensure traffic order and safety, and strictly handle individuals who intentionally do not comply; based on reality to be flexible and mobile in organizing road closures.
