(Baonghean.vn) - There is still a week left until the general school year of the province, but on August 22, students in the mountainous areas of Ky Son district eagerly returned to school early to prepare for the new school year 2022-2023.

This year, Ky Son district has about 23 thousand students from kindergarten to secondary school. After 2 months of summer vacation, students have started going back to school to start the new school year.

According to Mr. Phan Van Thiet - Head of the Education Department of Ky Son district, due to the characteristics of the mountainous district, the facilities are not guaranteed, the student population is still low, so starting school a week earlier is necessary.

“Most of the schools in Ky Son are boarding schools. After 2 months of summer vacation, the facilities of many schools have deteriorated, so teachers have to return home early to repair them and create the best conditions for students to study. Moreover, after the vacation, students have to follow their parents to work in the fields, so their knowledge is also lost. We have to bring them back to school early to review their knowledge and create a mindset for them to enter the new school year with more confidence,” said Mr. Phan Van Thiet.

At Nam Can Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, a week ago, teachers gathered to clean the school and prepare accommodations for students. Due to the rainy weather, grass grew wild around the dormitories and classrooms. Teachers had to cut and clean up to create a scene to welcome students.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nga - Vice Principal shared: This year, bringing 3rd grade students to live in boarding houses, there is not enough accommodation for students. Teachers have to take turns cutting bamboo to fix the beds so that when the students return to school, they will have a comfortable place to sleep.

“Every year, after the summer vacation, we return home early to take care of the students’ facilities. In particular, so that students can have the best meals at the boarding school, teachers must come early to clean the garden and plant vegetables to increase the food source for the students when they come to school,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Dai, a teacher at Nam Can Primary and Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities.

In the border commune of Keng Du, for many days now, taking advantage of the fact that students have not yet come to school, teachers of Keng Du Kindergarten have coordinated with the Border Guard Station to repair the school's facilities. Ms. Hoang Thi Lan - Principal said that after heavy rains, many toys and entertainment areas for children were seriously degraded. With the help of officers and soldiers of Keng Du Border Guard Station, the teachers had to focus on both cleaning and rebuilding the playground to be ready to welcome students.

At Huu Kiem Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, since last week, Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huong and her colleagues have been going to remote villages to encourage students to come to school on time. Due to the nature of summer vacation, students often follow their parents to the fields or go far away, so it is difficult to get all the students to return to school before the new school year. And the joy for the school is that today, the students have basically gathered enough to review their knowledge.

Mr. Phan Van Thiet - Head of the Department of Education said: "According to statistics, on the morning of August 22, schools in the district gathered students to both review and organize collective activities to create an atmosphere for the new school year. This is a positive sign compared to previous years when the worry about the lack of students at the beginning of the school year was reduced."
