Hung Nguyen and Dien Chau destroyed nearly 8 tons of pigs infected with African swine fever.
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 28 and 29, two localities, Hung Nguyen and Dien Chau, destroyed 156 pigs infected with African swine fever, with a total weight of more than 8 tons.
* Mr. Nguyen Dinh Huu - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Yen Bac Commune (Hung Nguyen) said: On May 28, the local government coordinated with the District Livestock and Veterinary Station to destroy a herd of 48 pigs infected with African swine fever, with a total weight of 2,434 kg.

Previously, from May 25 to 28, 7 households in Hung Yen Bac commune reported to the local authorities that their pigs were sick and dead. They were the households of Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, Nguyen Dinh Hau, Nguyen Van Thieu, Nguyen Duy Vuong, Nguyen Dinh Hung, Nguyen Dinh Thanh (Hamlet 5) and Nguyen Dinh Khoi (Hamlet 7A).
Veterinary staff of Hung Nguyen district took samples for testing, the results were all positive for African swine fever.
It is worth mentioning that Hung Yen Bac commune is adjacent to Hung Trung commune - the first epidemic hotspot in Hung Nguyen district.
As soon as the news of the swine fever epidemic in Hung Trung commune was known, the commune raised its vigilance and coordinated to set up checkpoints between the two communes, but the disease still entered. In addition to the 50 liters of chemicals provided by the Veterinary Station, the commune allocated funds to buy 2 tons of lime powder to strengthen the epidemic prevention work.
Hung Yen Bac commune has set up three quarantine checkpoints at intersections with neighboring communes and has strictly prohibited the slaughter, trade, and transportation of pigs in the area.

Thus, as of May 29, Hung Nguyen district has 2 communes with African swine fever, Hung Trung and Hung Yen Bac, and the district had to destroy 115 infected pigs with a total weight of 6.5 tons.

Previously, on May 27, Mr. Le Kim Cuong, hamlet 8, Dien Truong commune reported to the local authorities that there were sick and dead pigs. Veterinary staff of Dien Chau district took samples to send for testing, the results were positive for African swine fever.
Dien Truong is a key locality of Dien Chau district, bordering Quynh Luu district and has 6 roads connecting from National Highway 1A to the commune, therefore, the locality has set up 6 quarantine checkpoints on 6 Mai roads and 3 checkpoints bordering 3 neighboring communes.

Previously, on the morning of May 28, Dien Chau district destroyed pigs due to African swine fever in 3 communes: Dien Hong, Dien Nguyen, Dien Quang. The largest number of pigs was at Mr. Nguyen Van Binh's pig farm in Trung Hong hamlet, Dien Hong commune, where 90 pigs were destroyed, weighing more than 3 tons, mainly sows and pigs ready for sale. This is the 4th epidemic point in Dien Hong commune.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Bon - Head of Dien Chau Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station said: African swine fever is currently very complicated, many communes continue to have dead pigs, so epidemic prevention is an urgent task at this time. The district's African swine fever prevention steering committee has established teams to go directly to communes to regularly inspect, at the same time provide funding for epidemic prevention, and select safe destruction locations.
Up to now, Dien Chau district has had 16 communes affected by African swine fever, including: Dien Van, Dien Kim, Dien Thai, Dien Quang, Dien Bich, Dien Xuan, Dien Doai, Dien Hong, Dien Hanh, Dien My, Dien Truong, Dien Yen, Dien Loc, Dien Nguyen, Dien Dong and Dien Phu. The Veterinary force has destroyed 399 pigs weighing 16.3 tons.
