Missed shipment of heroin worth over 2 billion VND
A relative on the other side of the border sent 23 heroin cakes back to the family and asked them to "keep them" while waiting for an opportunity to sell them. While transporting them, the subjects were arrested.
Around noon on June 16, after a period of setting up a special investigation project, in Ban Quan village, Ban Phiet commune, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province, the Drug Crime Investigation Police force of the Provincial Police ambushed and caught red-handed two subjects on a motorbike transporting 23 heroin cakes, 17 million VND and many related documents.

The suspects' identities include Giang A Pao (39 years old, residing in Huoi Lech commune, Muong Nhe district) and Vang A Phia (36 years old, residing in Phi Nhu commune, Dien Bien Dong district, Dien Bien province).
Initially at the investigation agency, Vang A Phia confessed that the above drugs were transferred by a subject across the border to hide in Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai many months ago but had not been sold.
This subject contacted and hired Phia from Dien Bien to move to Lao Cai to sell the 23 heroin cakes. Greedy for profit, Phia agreed and invited Giang A Pao to join, with the intention of selling 135 million VND/heroin cake. The case is being further investigated by Lao Cai Provincial Police.
