Nghe An border district 'goes to every alley, knocks on every door' to propagate Covid-19 epidemic prevention

Dao Tho June 26, 2021 10:06

(Baonghean.vn) - With the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, many organizations and associations in the border district of Ky Son have spread to every corner, village, and remote area to propagate, distribute and wear masks for each person.

These days, the mobile propaganda team of the remote communes of the border district of Ky Son has little time to rest. Every early morning, they spread out to all the villages with loudspeakers in hand, leaflets, masks... to propagate to the people how to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic.

In particular, since June 25, when many citizens from Bac Giang returned to the locality, this task has become more difficult for the mobile propaganda team. In addition to explaining to people about the epidemic developments and risks of the Covid-19 epidemic, this team also warned about prohibited behaviors and sanctions, such as: Concealing, not declaring health or making false health declarations; providing false information; refusing or avoiding measures or not implementing quarantine measures as prescribed; not complying with disease prevention and control measures... and at the same time advised people not to panic about the Covid-19 epidemic.

Mr. Vi Nhu Cuong - a member of the propaganda team of Ta Ca commune shared: "Although the weather is hot, due to urgent work, everyone has to work hard. We have to be present in the villages regularly to propagate, monitor people in quarantine, and catch people returning from other localities...

According to Mr. Vi Nhu Cuong, many people are ethnic minorities, so it is difficult for them to understand when listening to propaganda broadcasts in the common language. Therefore, the team must send people who are knowledgeable about the culture and language of that ethnic group to explain to the people. "In particular, many people do not have masks at home, so at times like this, the propaganda team distributes and directly puts masks on them" - Mr. Cuong said.

In Bao Thang commune, more than 40 km from the center of Ky Son district, the mobile propaganda team is also on duty regularly in the villages to propagate the Covid-19 epidemic. Ms. Cut Thi Hanh - a member of the propaganda team these days seems to have difficulty having meals on time with her family. She often has to be present in the most remote villages of the commune such as Xa Va, Ca Da, Tha Lang... to grasp the situation of the villagers.

“The hardest part is in those remote villages, only 10 km from the commune center but it takes nearly 1.5 hours to get there. It’s okay on sunny days, but when it rains, we have to push our carts to the village. 100% of the people here are Khmu ethnic group, their understanding of the epidemic is limited, so we have to go from house to house to spread the word and distribute masks to each person,” said Ms. Hanh.

Talking to us, Mr. Phan Van Manh - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Ky Son district, said: Ky Son is an area with a border with Laos, the people are mainly ethnic minorities, the living standards and education level are still low, so we have to activate the epidemic prevention and control system at the highest level. Propaganda work must therefore be diverse so that people can clearly understand and effectively implement the prevention and control of Covid-19.
