60 YEARS OF HEROIC TRADITION

Delivering the commemorative speech, Comrade Vi Hoe - Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Ky Son district said that before 1961, Ky Son belonged to Tuong Duong district. On May 17, 1961, based on geographical, economic and social characteristics, at the request of the Nghe An Provincial Administrative Committee, the Government Council issued Decision No. 65-CP to separate Tuong Duong district into 2 districts: Tuong Duong and Ky Son.

After its establishment, under the glorious flag of the Party, generations of cadres, party members and people of Ky Son contributed their maximum human and material resources to immediately carry out the tasks of both building and developing the economy, culture, education and health, while ensuring the task of protecting the border, crushing the sabotage plots of the US imperialists and their henchmen, and driving out hundreds of spy groups, bandits and commandos who regularly infiltrated across the border...

Since the establishment of the district, the Party Committee of Ky Son district has organized 23 Congresses and set out many goals, tasks and solutions to help Ky Son develop. Over the past 60 years, the Party Committee, government and people of Ky Son district have persevered in overcoming difficulties and challenges and achieved many important results. In particular, during the renovation period, the army and people of Ky Son district were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.

The Party Committee and ethnic people of Ky Son district always have faith in the Party.wholeheartedly protect independence, territorial integrity and build the homeland and country. The political system is constantly consolidated and developed. Since its establishment with nearly 200 party members, the district Party Committee now has 47 affiliated grassroots organizations with nearly 6,000 party members.

The socio-economy has developed step by step. Up to now, one commune has met the new rural standards, the remaining communes have met 10.5 criteria on average. The material and spiritual life of the people has been gradually improved, by 2020 the average income had reached 23 million VND/person/year. The historical values ​​and cultural identities of ethnic groups have been preserved and promoted.

As a strategically important location for national defense and security, and a western “fence” of the Fatherland, throughout the 60-year history, generations of cadres and people of all ethnic groups in Ky Son have together firmly protected the sovereignty, territory, and national border security. Foreign affairs activities with localities of Laos sharing a common border have been maintained, further enhancing the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

BUILDING A DEVELOPED AND CIVILIZABLE KY SON

Speaking at the seminar, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that after 60 years of construction and development, the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of all ethnic groups in Ky Son district have overcome all difficulties and challenges, been proactive, creative, promoted potentials and advantages, strongly aroused internal strength, and exploited external strength to the maximum to build the district to develop more and more and achieve many important achievements.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee commended, acknowledged and congratulated the achievements that the Party Committee, Government, armed forces and people of all ethnic groups in Ky Son district have achieved in the past time.

“The achievements of Ky Son district over the past 60 years, especially political stability, ensuring national defense, and maintaining border peace, are extremely important to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland, maintaining national border sovereignty and security, creating favorable conditions for the province to focus on socio-economic development; at the same time, they are a great premise and motivation for Ky Son district to continue to develop more comprehensively in the coming time,” said the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

With the goal of building Ky Son to become more developed and civilized, the head of the provincial People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, Ky Son district needs to promote the good traditions of the homeland, continue to innovate, be proactive and creative; seize opportunities, overcome challenges, and effectively carry out local political tasks.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized 6 contents that Ky Son district needs to focus on implementing well. In particular, continue to maintain 3 peace, which are: peace for the people, peace for the area and peace for the border; focus on implementing well the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, Resolution of the 23rd Ky Son District Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025. Review, adjust and supplement the Planning in a comprehensive, scientific manner, suitable to the development requirements and specific characteristics, regional characteristics and local culture.
