On July 6, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Chi Hieu - Deputy Head of the Wanted Police Department (PC52 - Nghe An Provincial Police) said that a wanted subject has just surrendered to the unit after 24 years. The subject's identity is Dao Quang Vinh (born in 1952, with permanent residence in Quynh Luu district, Nghe An).
According to the case file, in 1994, Dao Quang Vinh committed the crime of smuggling across the border, but escaped. In December 1994, Hai Phong City Police issued a wanted notice for Vinh for the crime of smuggling across the border.
Vinh then quickly took his wife and children and fled the area. After many years of searching, the investigation agency found no results.
Recently, through coordination and verification, Nghe An wanted police (PC52) learned that Dao Quang Vinh was hiding in a southern province. Using professional measures to persuade him to surrender, on July 5, Dao Quang Vinh went to PC52 Nghe An Police to surrender.
Initially, the subject admitted to the crime and expressed remorse for the time spent in hiding.
"Currently, the unit is completing procedures to hand over the subject to Hai Phong Police for handling according to regulations," said Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Chi Hieu.
