The man who slashed his brother was arrested after 18 years on the run.

Nearly 20 years after slashing his brother to death with a knife, a fugitive from Ca Mau was arrested by police while working as a hired hand in Long An.

Ca Mau Province Police said that detectives have just arrested a man who has been on the run for 18 years. That man is Le Van Hoa (52 years old), from Khanh Hoa Commune, U Minh District (Ca Mau).

According to the prosecution records, in mid-1999, Hoa got into a fight with his brother Le Van Can (54 years old) in Hamlet 4, Khanh Hoa Commune. The latter then pulled out a knife (a grass cutter) and slashed Mr. Can several times before fleeing. The victim was taken to the emergency room by his relatives and survived, but his injury rate was up to 51%.

In July 1999, U Minh District Police wanted Hoa for Intentional Infliction of Injury. Two days earlier, Hoa was arrested by the police while working for hire in Duc Hue District, Long An.
