The man who slapped a female officer of the Covid-19 epidemic control team turned himself in.
Thanh rushed to the officers on duty and snatched the gloves and threw them on the ground, then slapped Ms. Le Thi Thu L., the officer on duty, in the face.
On the morning of April 24, Phu Ninh District Police (Quang Nam) announced that Nguyen Trung Thanh (born 1988, residing in Tam Thanh commune), wanted for "Resisting a person on official duty", had turned himself in.
Before that, at around 3:00 p.m. on April 5, at the Covid-19 control checkpoint of Tam Thanh commune, Thanh drove a motorbike carrying a young man through the checkpoint. Because both were locals, the officer on duty at the checkpoint did not ask him to stop the vehicle to check his body temperature.

However, after passing the epidemic control checkpoint, the two young men suddenly turned around. Thanh rushed towards the officers on duty and snatched the gloves and threw them on the ground, then slapped Le Thi Thu L., the officer on duty, in the face. Thanh then continued to attack another officer but was stopped by his friend in the car.
Phu Ninh District Police summoned Thanh to work many times but Thanh did not show up, so they issued a wanted notice, then decided to search for Thanh for using force and obstructing people performing official duties.
The district police determined that the suspect was hiding in Binh Dinh province, so they coordinated with relatives to persuade him. On the morning of April 23, Thanh went to the district police station to surrender.
At the police station, Thanh confessed that he was afraid of being punished by the law for his wrongdoings, so he took a bus to Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh) to rent a room and find a job. The authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
