| Flashing squid (or jumping squid) is the name used to refer to squid that fishermen have just caught, still fresh, with eyes and stars on the squid's body flashing. This type of squid is a specialty of the sea in Nghe An, usually appearing from March to August every year. After being caught, flashing squid will be gathered by people to sell on the road to Lan Chau island, in Nghi Thuy ward every evening. | Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, Nghi Thuy ward said: My family fishes for squid using basket boats, the husband goes out to sea, the wife stays at home to sell squid. We start from 4 pm and return at 7-8 pm, when we arrive at the dock we bring the squid out to sell so it is guaranteed to be fresh and delicious. Depending on the amount of squid caught and the customers, we usually sell from 7 pm to 12 am. On busy days, there are not enough squid to sell, the family's income is still 1 million VND/night.
