Urgent emergency treatment for suspected food poisoning patients in Nghi Loc district
Nghe An Department of Health requires medical units to perform well the work of transporting, receiving, handling emergency and treating patients suspected of food poisoning.
On the evening of December 6, Nghe An Department of Health issued Official Dispatch No. 4212/SYT-NVY on transporting, receiving, handling emergency cases, and treating suspected patients.poisoningFood sent to Nghi Loc District People's Committee; Food Safety and Hygiene Department; General Friendship Hospitals, Nghi Loc, 115, Cua Dong; other public and private medical examination and treatment facilities.
According to the Official Dispatch: At 4:00 p.m. on December 6, the Department of Health received information from the Food Safety and Hygiene Department about cases of patients showing signs ofpoisoningfood in Nghi Loc district.

To ensure the transportation, reception, emergency treatment and treatment of patients suspected of food poisoning in Nghi Loc district, the Department of Health requests the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district to direct the Food Safety and Hygiene Steering Committee, the District Health Department, the Management Board of WHA Nghe An Industrial Park and companies to coordinate with medical units in the process of handling, investigating and providing emergency care to patients with food poisoning.
Nghi Loc General Hospital, 115 General Hospital, and Cua Dong General Hospital organize the reception, emergency care, treatment, and monitoring of patients suspected of food poisoning; coordinate professional support, human resources, and promptly transport patients with severe food poisoning to higher-level medical facilities when beyond professional capacity; review and prepare to arrange human resources, medicine, supplies, medical equipment, and hospital beds to the maximum extent; receive, handle, and treat patients suspected of food poisoning transferred.
Coordinate with the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene, Nghi Loc District Medical Center to provide medical records, clinical and paraclinical test results and related information to serve the handling and investigation of suspected food poisoning cases; collect samples, preserve and hand over to the unit in charge of the investigation to send for testing to determine the cause of suspected food poisoning cases if necessary.
Nghe An General Hospital directed the External Emergency Team to be ready to support Nghi Loc General Hospital, 115, Cua Dong and lower-level units if necessary under the direction of the Department of Health; directed the Department of Resuscitation and Anti-Poison and related departments to prepare plans, be ready to arrange human resources, medicine, supplies, and medical equipment to be ready to receive severe cases transferred from lower-level units.
Nghi Loc District Medical Center and Hung Nguyen District directed the Commune/Town Health Stations to be ready to receive suspected cases of food poisoning, especially patients who are workers at WHA Industrial Park. Nghi Loc District Medical Center coordinated with the Food Safety and Hygiene Department to investigate the cause of the food poisoning.

The Food Safety and Hygiene Department organizes the investigation, coordinates with the People's Committee, the Department of Health of Nghi Loc district and related units to direct the implementation of investigation activities, promptly handle and overcome the consequences of suspected food poisoning cases; implements the quick reporting regime, updates information to the Department of Health; and at the same time advises the Department of Health to report the developments of food poisoning cases to the Provincial Steering Committee for Food Safety and Hygiene.

Other medical examination and treatment facilities, both public and private, are ready to receive, provide emergency care and treatment to patients suspected of food poisoning upon arrival; promptly transport seriously ill patients to higher-level medical facilities when beyond their professional capacity.
As reported by Nghe An Newspaper: On December 6, there was a food poisoning incident in the province that required 63 people to be hospitalized. Accordingly, after lunch, 63 workers from 2 companies in WHA Industrial Park (Nghi Long Commune, Nghi Loc District) and VSIP Industrial Park experienced headaches, nausea, hot flashes, some cases had chest tightness, red patches, rashes on the face, neck, arms, and fatigue.
The workers were hospitalized for treatment (42 patients were treated at Nghi Loc General Hospital, 12 patients were treated at 115 General Hospital and 9 patients were treated at Cua Dong General Hospital). After receiving intravenous fluids, antihistamines, corticosteroids... all workers' health was stable.
