Urgently suppress the complicated Covid-19 outbreak in Hoang Mai town

On November 17-18, the townHoang Mai23 cases tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, including: 01 case in Quynh Lien commune (a citizen returning from Dong Nai province); 02 cases in Quynh Phuong ward (a citizen returning from Ba Ria-Vung Tau province) and 20 cases in Quynh Lap commune.

Accordingly, after detecting the first case in Quynh Lap commune, through rapid testing, Hoang Mai town discovered 28 more suspected cases. The town then sent PCR samples of these cases for confirmation testing. Through testing, 20 cases had positive PCR results; 01 suspected case (retested) and 08 cases have no results yet.

Through investigation and tracing, the authorities determined that: The outbreak in Quynh Lap commune originated from a cluster of cases at Quynh Lap Fishing Port and a cluster of cases returning from the South... Hoang Mai town has initially identified 489 F1s. The town has locked down 5 villages related to the cases; conducted community screening to find more F0s.

Speaking at the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Deputy Commander of the Provincial Center for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, Director of Nghe An Department of Health stated: The Covid-19 outbreak in Quynh Lap commune is very complicated; the incubation period is relatively long; there is a high risk of spreading. The authorities and Hoang Mai town need to urgently and drastically implement solutions to prevent and control the epidemic.

Accordingly: It is necessary to step up investigation and thoroughly trace F1 cases to isolate and take samples for testing in a timely manner to avoid widespread spread of the epidemic. Hoang Mai town considers specific isolation conditions in the locality and each household to decide whether or not to allow F1 isolation at home; strictly implement the blockade and ensure social security for people in this area.

Hoang Mai town needs to conduct regular testing for people in the locked-down area according to regulations; strengthen propaganda work so that when people have unusual symptoms: cough, fever, shortness of breath, they immediately go to medical facilities for free screening tests. In addition to the outbreak in Quynh Lap commune, the town also needs to closely monitor the epidemic situation in Quynh Lien commune and Quynh Phuong ward; deploy survey testing of household representatives in high-risk areas.
