The giant rock, which locals still call a "rock bomb", appeared after the flood in August 2018, and is estimated to weigh hundreds of tons. The rock is now falling down more and more, covering most of the road surface.

Mr. Lo Van May - a teacher at Muong Ai Primary School, who lives in the commune and has to pass through the "rock bomb" road every day, said: "We are always afraid that rocks will collapse and kill people, or block the road. This is the only road connecting Na Ngoi, Nam Can to Muong Tip, Muong Ai. Previously, cars could pass through, but now this rock is blocking the way, so motorbikes have to be careful when passing through here."

Đoạn sạt lở có địa hình hiểm trở, tiềm ẩn nguy cơ tai nạn nhất là khi mùa mưa lũ đến.

The landslide has dangerous terrain, posing a risk of accidents, especially when the rainy season comes.

The rock lies precariously on the riverbank, many sections adjacent to the road have cracked and continue to subside.

Hiện tại, các cơ quan chức năng và chính quyền địa phương đang khẩn trương thực hiện các giải pháp khắc phục tình trạng này. Ông Vi Hòe - Bí thư Huyện ủy Kỳ Sơn cho biết:

Currently, authorities and local governments are urgently implementing solutions to overcome this situation.

Mr. Vi Hoe - Secretary of Ky Son District Party Committee said: "The district has directly inspected the landslide sites and has built 4 sub-projects to prevent landslides and relocate people on My Ly and 7B routes, including the landslide section in Xop Xang village to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration. In addition, we also directed the People's Committees of communes to have plans to relocate people and warn of dangers around the landslide area".
