In recent times, the Government has decentralized and delegated power to localities to be more proactive in investing in airport construction and has achieved important initial results.
However, investment procedures are still overlapping and cumbersome. Some ministries, sectors and localities have not been really proactive. Therefore, the mobilization of social resources for airport investment is still slow.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested to "continue to decentralize more strongly to localities, from the stage of preparing investment procedures to the stage of calling for and attracting businesses to invest in airports".
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with 15 provinces and cities in need of upgrading, expanding, and investing in airports to review and adjust planning to ensure strict compliance with legal regulations.
Assign localities to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Transport to urgently prepare investment projects to report to the Prime Minister for approval.
Localities that have had their investment projects approved, such as Sa Pa Airport (Lao Cai), Quang Tri, Lai Chau, and Phan Thiet Airport (Binh Thuan), are urgently selecting investors to start construction in late 2022 and early 2023.
