Controlling new outbreak of African swine fever in Tan Ky
(Baonghean.vn) - After Quynh Luu district, Tan Ky is the second locality in Nghe An to have an outbreak of African swine fever. Currently, the locality and authorities have actively surrounded and controlled the outbreak.
Previously, on March 25, 8 pigs belonging to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung's family in Hamlet 1, Nghia Dong Commune (Tan Ky) were sick with many symptoms. Upon receiving the information, the veterinary agency took samples for testing.
By the afternoon of March 26, the test results showed that the sample was positive for African swine fever. At the same time, the Nghia Dong commune government proceeded to destroy all 8 sick pigs, with a total weight of 550 kg.

It is known that the pigs have been raised for 3 months, the family has not bought pork for a long time, but 2 months ago the owner of the pig farm went on a trip to Ninh Binh - at that time an epidemic broke out.
Immediately after the outbreak, the Veterinary Department and the People's Committee of Tan Ky district directed Nghia Dong commune to coordinate with specialized agencies to set up quarantine checkpoints in the commune and immediately deploy solutions to prevent African swine fever.
Mr. Tran Dinh Huong - Vice Chairman of Nghia Dong Commune People's Committee said that currently in the commune there are 1,948 pigs, mainly raised on a small scale by the people, so the work of preventing African swine fever is somewhat difficult.
Immediately after the outbreak occurred at a household in Hamlet 1, the commune assigned a force of 32 people to guard the checkpoint, including police and military... In addition, the district also increased the force of the district police and the district animal station to coordinate 24/7.
"The commune has notified slaughterhouses in the area to absolutely not slaughter pigs," Mr. Huong added.
Mr. Le Duc Tinh - Head of Tan Ky District Veterinary Station said: On March 26, the district directed the establishment of 4 quarantine checkpoints in Nghia Dong commune; neighboring communes such as Tan Phu, Nghia Binh, Nghia Hop also set up quarantine checkpoints on the roads from Nghia Dong commune to their area.

Tan Ky district has provided 24 liters of disinfectant chemicals to Nghia Dong commune to spray at pig farms; pig farmers proactively buy lime powder to sprinkle in the barn area. Currently, the slaughter and transportation of pigs are also strictly inspected and controlled by specialized agencies.
Mr. Dang Van Minh, Deputy Head of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, said that immediately after detecting an outbreak in Nghia Dong commune, Tan Ky district, the specialized agency continued to closely monitor the development of the epidemic, and at the same time directed the locality to effectively implement epidemic prevention solutions according to the direction of the province, in order to control the epidemic on a small scale./.
