We should pay attention to careful driving skills and handle situations sensitively and promptly.

Driving at night, it's dark

Due to the nature of nighttime driving, only large vehicles such as trucks, container trucks, etc. operate, so if you have to drive at night, you need to be very careful and focused while driving.

At night, visibility is greatly reduced, especially on rural roads or roads lacking high-intensity discharge lights. When it is dark, remember to turn on your position lights and slow down. When it is dark, turn on your high/low beams appropriately, and use the signal lights mainly when avoiding/overtaking/meeting oncoming vehicles. Absolutely do not drive if the lighting system is not guaranteed.

Driving in the fog

Fog reduces visibility and can be dangerous if visibility is severely limited, the best advice is to not drive, if you must drive, turn on low beams, position lights and fog lights.

Tourist groups often go during the festival season after Tet, most of them go to areas with pagodas in the highlands. This is the time when there is dense fog and the groups often go by large vehicles such as 45-seat and 35-seat tourist buses. Therefore, if you go, you should go in a group, keep a distance of sight from each other, be patient and go slowly, even if you are in a hurry, you should not overtake.

If the car breaks down, never stop in the middle of the road, try to move the car to the right side of the road, and get everyone out of the car as soon as possible to avoid danger.

Driving in the rain and wind

Driving on the road when it rains is also very dangerous to your life, especially when it is stormy. If so, you must turn on your lights, reduce speed, drive carefully, and stay away from motorbikes and bicycles.

Cover the goods (if any), check the doors. New wet roads will be more slippery so brake, steer, turn signals must be applied sooner, keep a greater distance from vehicles in the same direction, use the wipers and defroster properly for the best visibility.

You should drive at half the normal speed, pay attention to the brakes, when wet the brake pads will be misaligned or not work, very dangerous if you brake suddenly, you should press lightly on the brake pedal to dry them again.

Driving on steep mountain roads

Before going on a steep mountain pass, you should check the vehicle's components: engine temperature, lubricating oil pressure, air pressure, brake pads, brake fluid, check if there are enough tire chocks... especially check the brakes.

Use gears and the engine to slow down, don't overuse the brakes, pay attention to the tachometer and engine temperature. Pay attention to signs and mirrors; be careful with curves and slopes - they are always traps, limit overtaking, only overtake when it is safe, honk before entering the curve and absolutely stay on the right side of the road.

If you discover a brake failure: Stay calm and alert, try to slow down with the engine, shift gears, never turn off the engine. Turn on all lights and honk to signal a problem, observe signs of escape routes or favorable terrain to slow down the vehicle. If this does not work, notify everyone immediately to quickly find a way to leave the vehicle immediately.
