Disciplined more than 170 senior officials under Central management in the past 10 years
(Baonghean.vn) - Over the past 10 years, the Central Committee, Politburo, Secretariat, and Central Inspection Commission have disciplined more than 170 high-ranking officials under the Central Committee's management; including 33 members and former members of the Party Central Committee, and more than 50 generals in the armed forces.
On the morning of June 30, the Politburo held a national conference to review 10 years of anti-corruption and anti-negativity work in the 2012-2022 period.
At the Central Party Committee Conference Hall, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Central Party Committee, Head of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativitychaired the conference. Co-chairing the conference were Politburo members: Nguyen Xuan Phuc - President; Pham Minh Chinh - Prime Minister; Vo Van Thuong - Standing member of the Secretariat; Phan Dinh Trac - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.

Attending the conference were comrades: Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of agencies directly performing the task of preventing and combating corruption; leaders of departments, branches and sectors.

PREVENTING AND FIGHTING CORRUPTION HAS BECOME A MOVEMENT, A TREND
The conference was attended by Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries, Party Central Committee members, leaders of central departments, ministries and branches, and local leaders. The conference was held in a combination of in-person and online formats at 4,100 locations at 8 central departments, ministries and branches; 63 centrally-run provinces and cities with the participation of more than 81,000 delegates nationwide.
This is the largest conference ever held by the Party on the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity. The conference aims to assess the actual results achieved, the limitations and weaknesses of the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity in the past 10 years and after more than 1 year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; to identify the causes, draw lessons; and to propose key tasks and solutions for the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity in the coming time.

At the same time, thoroughly grasp, unify awareness and action, effectively implement new policies and tasks of the Central Executive Committee, Politburo, Secretariat on preventing and combating corruption and negativity, especially the establishment and implementation of activities of the Provincial Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption and negativity. Thereby, creating greater unity, synchronization and determination of Party committees, Party organizations at all levels, cadres, Party members and people in the fight against corruption and negativity.
The report of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption clearly stated that since the 5th Central Conference of the 11th tenure (February 2013) decided to establish the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption, the work of anti-corruption and negativity over the past 10 years has made great progress, achieved many comprehensive, positive and clear results, left a good impression, created a positive effect, and spread strongly throughout society, as General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed: "The work of anti-corruption, waste and negativity has become a movement and trend" that has been agreed upon and highly appreciated by the people and recognized by international organizations.
Corruption is being gradually controlled, prevented, pushed back and tends to decrease, contributing to maintaining political stability, promoting socio-economic development, strengthening the trust of cadres, party members and people, creating new motivation and new spirit for the entire Party and people to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Notably, the work of detecting and handling corruption and negativity at the local and grassroots levels has received more attention, gradually overcoming the situation of "hot above, cold below" as shown through "speaking numbers". The number of localities that do not detect and prosecute new corruption cases each year tends to decrease gradually.
In 2021 alone, 100% of localities have prosecuted new corruption cases. Some localities discovered and prosecuted major corruption and negative cases such as: Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, An Giang, Thai Nguyen...
One of the outstanding results is that the Party's inspection and supervision, and the State's inspection and auditing have been strengthened, detecting and strictly handling violations, tightening discipline and order, effectively contributing to improving the effectiveness of the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity.
NEARLY 7,400 PARTY MEMBERS DISCIPLINED FOR CORRUPTION
Over the past 10 years, Party committees and inspection committees at all levels have disciplined more than 2,700 Party organizations and nearly 168,000 Party members, of whom more than 7,390 Party members were disciplined for corruption. The Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Inspection Committee have disciplined more than 170 senior officials under the Central Committee's management; including 33 members and former members of the Party Central Committee (3 Politburo members, 1 former Politburo member), and more than 50 generals in the armed forces.
Since the beginning of the 13th Party Congress term, 50 officials under the Central Committee's management have been disciplined, including 8 members and former members of the Party Central Committee, and 20 generals in the armed forces.

Over the past 10 years, the prosecution agencies nationwide have prosecuted and investigated 19,546 cases/33,868 defendants, prosecuted 16,699 cases/33,037 defendants, and tried 15,857 cases/30,355 defendants for corruption, position-related, and economic crimes. Of which, 2,657 cases/5,841 defendants were prosecuted and investigated, and 2,439 cases/5,647 defendants were tried at first instance for corruption crimes.
Since the beginning of the 13th Congress term, nearly 4,200 cases/7,572 defendants have been prosecuted and investigated for corruption, position, and economic crimes (of which, 455 cases/1,054 defendants have been prosecuted and investigated for corruption crimes). Recently, many particularly serious corruption and negative cases, causing great damage, have been investigated and strictly handled in the fields of health care, land management and use, securities, and corporate bonds.
Civil enforcement agencies at all levels have recovered 61,000 billion VND, reaching a rate of 34.7% (in 2013, this rate was only under 10%). Particularly, cases under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee have recovered nearly 50,000 billion VND, reaching a rate of 41.3%.

Recently, the fight against corruption has become even hotter, starting with the violations of the law by Viet A Company. After only 6 months of investigation, more than 60 individuals have been prosecuted for a series of violations related to this company.
Among them are former Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long; former Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh and a series of CDC Directors, officials of the Department of Health of provinces and cities. This shows the great determination of the Party and judicial agencies in preventing and combating corruption with an uncompromising spirit, no forbidden zones, no exceptions.
At the conference, leaders of the Central Inspection Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee... reported on the results of anti-corruption work; presented lessons learned and proposed many solutions to strengthen and promote anti-corruption and negativity work more effectively in the coming time.
