(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the impact of continuous heavy rains over the past few days, many new cracks and subsidence have appeared in the residential area in Ky Son district, with the risk of collapse at any time. The government and functional forces must urgently evacuate households from the dangerous area, especially before the approaching storm No. 4.

According to Mr. La Van Ha - Chairman of the People's Committee of Huu Kiem commune, in Huoi Tho village, many cracks appeared with a length of hundreds of meters, the depth of the cracks from 80cm to 2m, directly affecting 11 households. Of which, 5 households were in the area of ​​urgent evacuation of people and important assets.

To ensure the safety of people's lives and property, on the afternoon of September 26 and 27, the People's Committee of Ky Son district established a working group to inspect and mobilize people, as well as direct the functional forces of Huu Kiem commune to urgently evacuate households at high risk of landslides to safe shelters, reducing the great damage caused by the circulation of the upcoming storm No. 4.

Currently, Ky Son district is directing functional departments and the People's Committee of Huu Kiem commune to increase forces to help households relocate, and at the same time survey and select resettlement sites for households to have safer housing.

Also according to Mr. La Van Ha - Chairman of the People's Committee of Huu Kiem commune, in addition to people's properties and houses, the landslide also affected 2 35KV and 110KV electric poles and 1 transformer station (low voltage station) of Huoi Tho village, which is at risk of causing power outages to many households in Ky Son district and 2 communes of Nhon Mai and Mai Son of Tuong Duong district, if not promptly repaired and relocated.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Ky Son district, from September 4 to now, in Ky Son district, there has been local heavy rain with rainfall of 193mm, causing landslides that damaged 203 houses, of which 59 houses had to be urgently evacuated, many households had to evacuate to safe shelters.

Households damaged and affected by severe landslides are concentrated in Bao Nam, Chieu Luu, Huu Lap and Huu Kiem communes.

Mr. Tho Ba Re - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Son district said: "From the beginning of September until now, many residential areas have experienced landslides, forcing the authorities to relocate many households, such as in Huoi Tho village, Huu Kiem commune; Nam Tien 2 village and Thao Di village, Bao Nam commune. Currently, the district is preparing a resettlement project for these households. However, in order to soon implement the resettlement, Ky Son district hopes that the province and the Central Government will support the district with additional resources to promptly relocate these households, the sooner the safer."
