Provincial leaders offer incense to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the sacrifice of 13 Truong Bon Youth Volunteers
(Baonghean.vn) - Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and the delegation expressed gratitude and remembered the great contributions of the heroes and martyrs who fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the country.
Commemorating the 51st anniversary of Truong Bon Victory (October 31, 1968 - October 31, 2019), on the morning of October 30, at Truong Bon National Historical Site, the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a flower and incense offering ceremony to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the sacrifice of 13 Youth Volunteers.
Attending the event were Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Provincial Youth Union; representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

The delegation offered incense and flowers at the common grave of 13 youth volunteers of the Nghe An Youth Volunteer Corps who died while on duty in the early morning of October 31, 1968, just hours before US planes stopped bombing the North.

Next, the delegation offered flowers and incense at the temple of 1,240 heroic martyrs - beloved children of the Fatherland who devoted their entire youth to the cause of national liberation and reunification at Truong Bon National Historical Relic Site.

During the fierce years of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the strategic route 15A in general and Truong Bon in particular was the location connecting the traffic arteries of the Northern rear to support human and material resources for the Southern battlefield.
In the confrontation with the US air force and navy at the Truong Bon “fire coordinates”, more than 1,500 officers and soldiers of 9 Youth Volunteer Companies, belonging to the Youth Volunteer Team against the US to save the country in Nghe An province, held their ground day and night and fought tenaciously with courage; with iron will and determination, they achieved many feats.

To achieve that victory, thousands of cadres, soldiers, youth volunteers, transport workers, and militiamen were injured; 1,240 cadres and soldiers fought bravely and sacrificed heroically. Especially the heroic feat and sacrifice on October 31, 1968 of 13 youth volunteers of the Heroic “Steel Squad”, belonging to the 317th Youth Volunteer Company.
Offering fresh flowers and incense to the souls of the heroic martyrs and youth volunteers, the delegation expressed their respect, gratitude, admiration and deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who did not spare their blood and bones, dedicating their youth for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Affirming that their sacrifices will forever be a shining example for today's and future generations to learn from and follow.
