Provincial leaders inspect production in Thanh Chuong

(Baonghean.vn) - On February 18, the provincial working delegation led by Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the spring crop production situation in Thanh Chuong district.

He and the delegation directly inspected the fields of Thanh Lien commune and then heard about the agricultural production situation in the whole district.

This spring crop, Thanh Chuong district strives to plant over 14,000 hectares of all kinds. Of which, over 8,000 hectares of rice with the main varieties being: ZZD001, ZZD 004, Kinh So Uu 1588, Thien Uu 8, 27P31...

Faced with erratic weather conditions, the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district has developed and implemented a spring crop production plan early and has issued many documents requesting and directing people to comply with and implement the crop calendar set out by the district.

Next, comrade Dinh Viet Hong worked with Do Luong district on the spring crop production situation. In the 2016 spring crop, Do Luong planted more than 7,000 hectares of rice, nearly 1,000 hectares of corn and peanuts. During the severe cold before Tet, the whole district had more than 460 hectares of rice and 20 hectares of seedlings die.

Currently, Do Luong is focusing on directing and overcoming the consequences caused by the severe cold spell, while speeding up the spring crop production progress.

After inspecting the actual situation, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the strict compliance with the crop calendar and good implementation of technical measures in spring crop production of Thanh Chuong and Do Luong districts, which have significantly contributed to reducing the situation of cold-killed rice in the past time. At the same time, he requested localities and the agricultural sector to continue closely monitoring weather developments, thereby having appropriate solutions, guiding and directing people to focus on overcoming the consequences of the recent severe cold spell, speeding up the progress of spring crop planting. Doing a good job of forecasting and predicting to proactively prevent diseases for crops and livestock, using irrigation water effectively and economically to cope with the drought situation.
