From May 1 to September 30, 2016, Vietnamese workers residing illegally in Korea who voluntarily return home will be exempted from administrative penalties.

Accordingly, Vietnamese workers in Korea who flee their place of work under contract or stay in Korea illegally after the expiration of their labor contracts and voluntarily return to their home country between May 1, 2016 and September 30, 2016 will not be subject to administrative sanctions as prescribed in Article 35 of Decree No. 95/2013.

This is one of Vietnam's measures to encourage and facilitate workers residing illegally in Korea to voluntarily return home, contributing to reducing the rate of Vietnamese workers residing and working illegally in this market.

Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep said: "Korea recently issued a policy that from April 1 to October 2016 (that is, within 6 months), illegal workers in Korea who voluntarily return to their home country will be granted amnesty, meaning they can still return to Korea, without being banned from entering the country for a period of 5 years.

So, for those workers who are currently staying illegally in Korea, this is an opportunity for you to return and have the opportunity to return to Korea to work."

According to Article 35 of Decree 95/2013 on administrative sanctions for violations in the fields of labor, social insurance and sending Vietnamese workers to work abroad under contracts, workers who are fined may have to pay up to 100 million VND./.
