18 months in prison for selling 25 kg of firecrackers

On the morning of December 26, at the People's Committee of Tan Huong commune, the People's Court of Tan Ky district opened a mobile trial of the criminal case against Nguyen Trong An (born in 1991, residing in hamlet 2, Tan Huong commune, Tan Ky district) for the crime of "Trading in prohibited goods".
According to the indictment, because he wanted to have fireworks to use during the 2019 Lunar New Year and knew that many people would need fireworks, on November 8, 2018, An (a long-distance driver) went to Do Luong town to buy fireworks.
An met an unknown man and bought 17 boxes of 36 firecrackers, 6 plastic bags, each containing 283 round balls connected by a piece of slow-burning wire for 8,850 million VND.
On November 16, when An was selling the above firecrackers to an unknown man for 12.2 million VND, he was caught red-handed by the Tan Ky District Police and the Nghe An Provincial Police Special Forces. The authorities seized 25 kg of firecrackers at the scene.
The People's Court sentenced Nguyen Trong An to 18 months in prison.
