The class has 100% of students passing the university entrance exam with scores above 23.0.
(Baonghean) - Every year, at Thanh Chuong I High School, there are classes with high achievements, constantly strengthening the school's tradition. Most recently, class 12A had 6 students achieving 27 points or more in the National High School Exam.
According to Mr. Tran Dinh Hung - homeroom teacher, class 12A, course 52 has 40 students, of which 3/4 are children of farmers and live in rural areas. The class size is stable from grade 10 to grade 12. The most special thing about this class and course is that the "entry" score is relatively low compared to other courses in the school and compared to selective classes of other schools in the province, such as Do Luong I, Nam Dan I, Huynh Thuc Khang... The low entry score has posed many challenges for homeroom teachers and subject teachers in teaching and learning, especially how to help students achieve high results in exams. Recalling the first year when he first took over the class, Mr. Hung said: “I thought a lot about the characteristics of the class, to outline a “long-term” and consistent plan. That is to take shortcuts, review more thoroughly, teach topics related to university entrance exams earlier, creating conditions for students to have time to review, practice, and get used to exams.”

The obvious advantage of class 12A is the spirit of solidarity, always helping each other in studying. The students in the class are mainly children of farmers, many of whom have difficult families, many of whom have to travel a long distance of 15 - 20 km to go to school (only 2 students live in the town), but in return, they are all well-behaved, have the will to progress, overcome difficulties, and are determined in studying. When they were in grade 10, the school organized a university entrance exam, and some students in the class enthusiastically participated. Although the results were only modest compared to their seniors, they initially encouraged and motivated the spirit of studying and striving to improve of the whole class. Entering grade 11, in the 2015 provincial excellent student competition, 6 students in the class won prizes. Physics won 3 prizes (First, Second, Encouragement), ranked first in the province as a whole group. Chemistry also had 3 students winning prizes (2 second prizes, 1 third prize).
Talking about the 3-year process of being attached to class 12A, Mr. Hung shared: "As a homeroom teacher, I always see myself as an older brother or older sister of the students, grasping and understanding the circumstances and strengths of each student to have appropriate methods of impact, whether the students are good at studying or not, we need to encourage and help them to know how to unite and rise up". Perhaps thanks to the close attention of teachers, especially the homeroom teacher, class 12A is not only "famous" for its academic achievements but also actively participates in cultural, artistic and sports activities. The class has organized many extracurricular programs, many field trips, visits to Tan Ky sugar factory, Nghia Dan sunflower field, historical sites (Soviet Nghe Tinh Museum, General Vo Nguyen Giap's tomb...) so that members can explore, experience, and be more enthusiastic in studying.

Thanks to the efforts of the students along with the attention and enthusiastic teaching of the teachers (all 3 teachers of block A of the class are excellent teachers at the provincial level, including the homeroom teacher), the achievements of class 12A have been continuously improved, most clearly demonstrated by the results of the 2016 National High School Exam. Of the 40 students in the class, 33 took the block A exam, achieving an average score of 25.39 points, of which 6 students scored above 27 points. These results demonstrate the overcoming of difficulties by both teachers and students of class 12A. Mr. Hung said: This year's exam was more difficult than last year, but the students' achievements were somewhat surprising to the teachers of the class, because the results were higher than the initial predictions and higher than some schools in the area.

Exam results table of grade 12A students, Thanh Chuong I High School |
In this exam, many students of class 12A who achieved high results are children of families with difficult circumstances, which is very admirable. Ho Quang Trung in hamlet 2, Thanh Van commune, is not only an exemplary class monitor, enthusiastic with the group, but also the student with the highest score in the A block exam at Thanh Chuong I High School. With a score of 27.8, Trung hopes to become a student of the Military Technical Academy, to be a soldier, and to contribute in the military environment. Recalling her school days, she confided: “Being a class monitor of a gifted class with many egos, gathering and connecting classmates was sometimes difficult, but now it’s all over, I’m happy because my classmates all achieved high results in the National High School Exam”. Vu Thi Ngoc in Hamlet 4, Ngoc Son Commune also comes from a poor family, but her exam score is among the top in the class, Ngoc also got 10 points in Physics. With 27.4 points in block A, Ngoc will apply to the Military Medical Academy and Hanoi University of Pharmacy. The secret to studying and getting high scores, for Ngoc, is simply to pay attention to the teacher’s lectures in class, do all the homework at home, and go online to learn good ways to solve problems to save time. In addition, you can go to study groups to discuss with friends the knowledge that you don’t understand...
Mr. Le Xuan Huong - Principal of Thanh Chuong I High School said: "This year, the school continues to have the second highest number of students with high scores in the province, only after Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. And, class 12A, course 52 has truly left a good impression, adding to the glorious tradition of teaching and learning of the school; contributing to creating motivation for the following courses."
