According to authorities, due to personal conflicts, on the afternoon of June 29, Bui Van Thao gathered about 20 unruly young men from communes in Nga Son and Ha Trung districts, Bim Son town (Thanh Hoa) and Tam Diep city (Ninh Binh) to prepare for a fight.
The group then used 6 cars carrying knives, iron pipes, and homemade guns to the restaurant of Mai Van Truong (28 years old, in Nga Son town) to resolve the conflict.
Meanwhile, at his restaurant, Truong also arranged about 20 young men and kept many weapons ready to retaliate against Thao's group.
Receiving information that a fight was about to break out, Nga Son District Police organized forces to go to the scene to stop it. When they saw the police surrounding them, the two groups of thugs quickly fled. The police continued to chase them, but the thugs continuously drove their cars to block and block the official motorbikes from passing. While moving, the thugs threw onto the road a bag containing 4 homemade guns (2 revolvers, 2 shotguns) and many bullets.
Police later arrested four suspects identified as the ringleaders of the riot.
