Two sisters blinded by acid attack due to love conflict

Thinking that the young woman would not help him mend his relationship with her cousin, a young man in Can Tho hired someone to throw acid on both sisters.

On November 28, Binh Thuy District Police (Can Tho City) detained Nguyen Ngoc Thao (29 years old) and Bui Phuoc Tuan (22 years old, both from the locality) to investigate the act of Intentional Infliction of Injury.

According to initial investigation, since 2011 Thao has been in a relationship with Ms. Diem (20 years old, living in Binh Thuy district). Recently, the two had a conflict. When her lover suggested breaking up, Thao asked Diem's ​​cousin (17 years old) to mediate.

But then, Thao suspected that this young woman did not help her mend her relationship but also used insulting words, so she hated both sisters.

On November 8, Thao went to An Lac market (Ninh Kieu district) to buy more than a liter of acid in a plastic bottle and hired Tuan to do it. Thao poured the acid into two plastic cups, and Tuan used mud to smear on the motorbike's license plate to camouflage it.

That same evening, after finishing drinking, Thao saw Diem and her sister driving home from work, so she and Tuan followed them on Highway 91B. When they reached a deserted road, Tuan forced the car to stop, Thao threw acid on the two girls and quickly escaped.

The two victims fell on the street and cried for help, and were taken to the hospital by locals. Diem’s younger brother suffered severe burns to his face, possibly blinding him in both eyes, and was transferred to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment. Diem suffered minor burns.

After committing the crime, Thao paid Tuan one million dong. Early two days ago, Tuan was arrested while hiding in Tra Noc ward, Binh Thuy district. Based on his statement, the police arrested Thao in Ho Chi Minh City that same day.

At the investigation agency, the two suspects admitted their crimes.
